Another beautiful day!

Today I will focus on cutting the siding trim for the small window on the back wall. I want to get it measured, cut and have the first primer done by the end of the day. Starting tomorrow I will be focused on building the rock wall so it is a perfect time to get everything good and dry before mounting.

So first I measure everything – twice. The cut out the top piece.

These top pieces are always tricky as the top edge needs to be angled to meet the over hang – and since I have very limited power tools I need to do it by hand and best guess.

Fortunately it comes out OK and I can move to the sides.

These also have a small edge at the bottom which must be angled to meet the lower window ledge but since it is a small edge, it is much easier to make small cuts and sand to fit.

After a good bit of fiddling with it and sanding adjustments…

…it all comes together nicely and I get them primed with the oil/turpentine mix.

In the photo of the frames in place, you can also see the two mounting pins I use to keep the glass window pane in the frame. These are better than nails as they can be tapped down tight but also easily removed in the future if I ever need to take the window out again.
